What and when come the Widow Pension Scheme



Widow Pension Scheme start in West Bengal at 2010. It shall come into force on such date, as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.


Eligibility and criteria for Bidhoba Vata Form West Bengal:-


A person who is entitled to receive pension under this scheme shall satisfy the following conditions: -
Citizenship: The person who applying for Widow Pension, he must be a citizen of India and resident of the state namely West Bengal. She has been a resident of the state namely West Bengal for not less than ten years on the date of making application for Widow Pension

Income Level: Income of the person does not exceed of Rs. 1000.00 per month.

Relation: The person has no relation who can maintain him/her.

Professional Beggars: Professional beggars mendicants shall not be eligible for pension under this scheme. But persons who are not actually beggars by profession but receive occasional assistance from someone, they shal be entitled to pension, if otherwise eligible,

If Other Pension Active: The applicant persons who have receiving “Disability Pension”, “Old Age Pension”, “Farmers’ Pension”, or pension under "Family Pension Scheme" of any State Government or the Central Government shall not be eligible for pension under this scheme. But persons who are not actually beggars by profession but he/she occasional assistance from someone, shall be entitled to pension.

Definition of Some Text in the form:
1. “Application” means an application for Widow Pension.
2. “Applicant” means the person who has applied for Widow Pension.
3. “Form” means form as prescribed by the State Government in this scheme behalf.
4. “pension” means Widow Pension under this scheme.
5. “Pensioner” means the applicant who has been allotted Widow Pension under this scheme.
7. “Secretary” means and includes the Secretary or the Principal Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare.
8. “State Government” means the State Government in the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare.
9. “State” means the State of West Bengal.
10. “relation” means and includes-
a. son / daughter,
b. brother;
c. parents

Method of Applying for Bidhoba Vata Form West Bengal


Pension Information Form (Form-P) for Pension may be obtained free of cost from following offices namely:
a. Office of the Block Development Officer or the Executive Officer of the concerned Panchayat Samity in case of the applicant resides in the rural areas under the said Panchayat Samity.
b. Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer in case of the applicant resides in Municipal / Notified areas outside the areas of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, and
c. Office of the Controller of Vagrancy, West Bengal situated at Purta Bhawan, Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata-700091, in case of the applicant resides within the areas under Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

Application Form for Pension shall be addressed to: -


The District Magistrate of the concerned District and shall be submitted to the Block Development Officer or the Executive Officer of the Panchayat Samity in case of the applicant residing in the rural areas under a Panchayat Samity;
The District magistrate of the concerned District and Shall be submitted to the Sub-Divisional Officer in case of the applicant residing in Municipal / Notified areas outside the areas of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
The Controller of Vagrancy, West Bengal and shall be submitted to the Controller Vagrancy West Bengal in case of the applicant residing within the areas under Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
